We are proud to announce that DOING – The Dutch Organization for Inclusive Nurtured Growth took part in the Anna Lindh Foundation ALForum titled “Language: A Bridge Between Cultures,” held in Tirana, Albania, from 18–20 June 2025.
This three-day was part of the wider ALForum initiative, bringing together civil society actors from across the Euro-Mediterranean region to discuss the role of language in fostering integration, dialogue, and intercultural understanding.
Our NGO was represented by:
🔹 Mohamad Shibli, who was invited as a speaker, sharing his expertise on how language can empower refugee communities and strengthen social cohesion.
🔹 Reem Abbas, who joined as a participant, engaging in discussions and exchanging experiences from our local work in the Netherlands.
During the workshop, we highlighted DOING’s community-based programs such as:
• Language cafés that help newcomers practice Dutch in informal, welcoming settings
• Cultural exchange initiatives that promote mutual understanding between migrants and host communities
• Grassroots support for refugees and newcomers, especially in language acquisition and social inclusion
We thank the Anna Lindh Foundation for organizing this meaningful event and for creating space to share our vision of language as a bridge, not a barrier.
